The roller coaster of happiness: An investigation of interns' happiness variability, LMX, and job-seeking goals

In the context of internships, we develop and test theory regarding relationship between interns' happiness their perceptions leader-member exchange (LMX). Adopting a discrete dynamic emotions perspective, examine that is elicited by most memorable daily interactions with supervisor bring attention to construct variability (i.e., between-person differences in fluctuation over time). Integrating Affective Events Theory Feelings as Information Theory, theorize investigate how interacts psychological resources optimism core self-evaluation) inform LMX, ultimately, indirectly associated job-seeking goals related future employment organization. Findings from our field study reveal positive LMX among interns low self-evaluation. The findings also provide evidence conditional indirect key outcome, goals, via LMX.
